"A Message For My Child" I can give you life, but I can’t live it for you. I can give you instructions, but I can’t tell you where to go. I can give you liberty, but I can’t help you to protect it. I can teach you the difference between good and bad, but I can’t make the decision for you. ... I can give you advice, but I can’t accept it for you. I can give you love, but I can’t force you to receive it. I can teach you to share, but I can’t stop you from being selfish. I can teach you to respect, but I can’t make you be respected. I can counsel you about your friends, but I can’t choose them for you. I can teach you everything you need to know about sex, but I can’t make you act responsibly. I can talk to you about drinking, but I can’t say "no" or "just one" for you. I can warn you about drugs, but I can’t stop you from using them. I can talk to you about having important goals, but I can’t achieve them for you. I can teach you about charity, but I can’t make you be generous. I can pray for you, but I can’t make you walk with God. I can talk to you about how to live, but I can’t give you eternal life. When everything is said and done, everybody decides for him or herself how they will live their life!!

Time usually has a way of working things out.

Have you ever been caught up in a really bad situation where you asked yourself, why is this happening to me? I’m sure you have...we all have. So what do you do? What do you do when you feel like a shark is circling and you're what's for dinner? I realize that quick action is neccesary sometimes but personally, I feel like most people (all too often) rush into trying to fix things too quickly. My thoughts are...step back from everything and instead of letting that shark eat you alive...ride it a while, give it some time, and don't rush into thoughts and actions that only make the situation worse. Time usually has a way of working things out. Sounds simple, but it's true!!!

If you want to know what a man is like, take a good look at how he treats his inferiors, not his equals.”

One New Years resolution I have made before, and really try to keep, is this: To rise above the little things.Here's to all of us having a great 2012!!!

Gratitude

Gratitude is a form of wisdom. It's patient, loving, hopeful, and rigorously honest. It denies nothing, and it overlooks nothing. It looks reality full in the face and says: This is true, this is me, this is my situation, and I have the opportunity to build from here. Right now, the beginning of 2012, is a perfect starting point. Unfortunately, 2011 was not good to many of us. So, lets make today a new beginning and really treat it that way. Let's not dwell on what might have been and only concentrate on what can be!!!

God, I don't mean to bother you none It's been a spell since I talked to you last. I reckon I ought to thank you for all you do Cause this ole cowboy has had quite a past. I'm gettin' too old to drive these herds ... My bones hurt and my temper gets short But somehow these younger boys need this old man When they get to missin' home and get a little out of sorts. As I sit here talking to you now I can't imagine not bein' right here Listenin' to the night critters makin' their noise You're lookin' down on me so I have nothing to fear. You've been really good to me You've given me a lot of years to ride these trails It's fed my family but not made me rich And my youngin's love my tall tales. I pray you'll guide me along with all these cattle Along the way let there be plenty of water and feed And keep the wind a gentle breeze and clouds in the sky Cause with these things, it's all we really need. I'm gonna say goodnight for now I always feel a might better after talkin' with you Thank you for listening to this old cowboy And God....I love you too.
